About the site

“I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing.”

—Agatha Christie, mystery author

All around me people are trying to move mountains. Most of the mountains are the ordinary kind that sometimes stand in everyone’s way: bad habits, sagging spirits, poor productivity, stress, anxiety, imbalance. But some are towering peaks that seem impossible to conquer: job losses, legal crises, caretaking chores, marital breakups, drug dependencies, serious illnesses, and deaths of loved ones.

This site is for those who are determined to move the mountains—big or small—standing in their way and to rediscover the grand thing of being alive. Several times each week, I’ll post motivational and informational articles on everything from overcoming procrastination and making better decisions to more serious topics. I’ll also include stories and quotes about and by famous and not-so-famous people who’ve had to move their own mountains to find success. I hope you’ll become a regular reader and share your own stories and suggestions in the comments section.
